Jetstar Adds More Flights To The Coast
THE Gold Coast's tourism industry is expected to receive a boost next year, with Jetstar set to add 5040 seats a week to and from the city.
The airline will add 14 flights a week from April next year, including seven return flights between the Gold Coast and Sydney, three between here and Adelaide and four between the Coast and Newcastle.
This will take the total number of services into the Gold Coast to 208 a week.
Jetstar Group chief commercial officer David Koczkar said the Sydney to Gold Coast service is the airline's most popular flight to Queensland, with more than 3 million seats sold on the route in eight years.
"[Increased seats] is great news for travellers and for the Gold Coast tourism industry and demonstrates Jetstar's further commitment to the Gold Coast market,'' said Mr Koczkar.
"By adding more low fares we expect to increase the number of people from Sydney, Adelaide and Newcastle taking a well-earned break on the Gold Coast.''
He said the increase was part of a broader expansion of Jetstar services on key leisure routes along the Australian east coast by more than 490,000 seats during 2012/13.
